CANEUS Launch Portal

The emerging market and recognized value and role of extremely small satellites is forcing a need for a more efficient means for pairing new launch opportunities with the small space vehicle developers. The scope covers small satellites and instrument payloads that are less than 200kg. More specifically, with the recent evolution of the Cubesat-class space vehicle, the focus will be limited to a new global launch portal beta web site that provides a service to pair Cubesat developers seeking candidate launch opportunities with those launch service providers that offer available space in P-POD certified orbital dispensers.

The CANEUS Small Satellite Global Launch Portal is designed to:

1. Allow satellite and sensor payloads between 1kg and 200kg the ability to identify a launch vehicles based on specific considerations in order to provide a more efficient launch option analysis for a desired orbital inclination and altitude;
2. Allow launch vehicle providers to identify candidate satellites and sensors between 1kg and 200kg that could be one of the payloads on future launches;
3. Provide a very interactive web user interface that presents sufficient data and graphics to allow an efficient way to look at the trade space.

This project is spearheaded by the CANEUS Small Satellite Consortium Launch Services whose purpose is to establish a set of specifications consistent with a variety of launch systems and to ensure the compatibility of secondary payloads with these specifications. The subgroup aims to provide secondary satellite developers with a current list of candidate launches detailing carrier type, carrying capacity, and key contact information.
